Phoenix Suns trade up for Oso Ighodaro at No. 40

The New York Knicks facilitate another trade involving a Marquette star. This time, they give away the No. 40 overall pick to the Phoenix Suns, who select forward Oso Ighodaro. Ighodaro, a Phoenix native, gets to return home and play alongside Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

The Suns could use all 6-foot-9 of Ighodaro as they determine a starting center. He averaged 6.9 rebounds at Marquette and posted four double-doubles.

New York Knicks trade to get Tyler Kolek at No. 34

The Marquette University star thought he might be a first-round pick -- and might go to the Big Apple -- during the first round of the NBA draft on Wednesday. He had to wait a little while longer as he was officially drafted by Portland at No. 34 overall in the second-round and was traded to the Knicks for a trio second-round picks.

Kolek joins a Villanova-heavy Knicks squad in what should make the Big East season quite entertaining off the court in New York.

Oso Ighodaro will be in green room for the second round

According to the NBA, Oso Ighodaro will be in the green room for the second round of the NBA draft.

Thursday's second round will be held at ESPN's Seaport Studios. The first round was at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

MU's Tyler Kolek is planning on hosting a watch party for the second round. Both Kolek and Ighodaro were in the stands at Barclays Center during the first round on Wednesday.

Second-round mock draft picks for Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro

Marquette's Tyler Kolek might not be available for long during Thursday's second round.

The Athletic and ESPN published updated mock drafts for the second round, and both of them have Kolek getting picked by the San Antonio Spurs at No. 35.

In The Athletic's mock draft, writer Sam Vecenie has MU's Oso Ighodaro going to the Bucks at No. 33, citing Ighodaro's defensive versatility as a fit for head coach Doc Rivers.

ESPN predicts Ighodaro going to Indiana at No. 49, with his ball-handling and decision-making being valued by the go-go Pacers.

Bucks open to trade No. 33 pick

Bucks general manager Jon Horst met with the media late Wednesday night after drafting AJ Johnson No. 23, and he spoke about how that selection — along with an overnight and some 15 hours before the second round begins — could inform what he does with the No. 33 pick today.

Horst: “I think there is a component of roster balance to it, and asset management. This is a little bit new for all of us having this amount of time in-between. I expect a number of phone calls and text messages by the time I get back on 33. We like the group of players that are available right now at the top of the draft tomorrow and we’re at the top of the draft, which is a great position to be.

"I think positionally informs it to some extent and asset management, the fact that we used the asset for a player that’s going to be on our roster next season informs it. We really do like some players that are there. I could see us taking one of those players.

"I’m sure there’ll be some opportunities to kind of chop up the asset or kick it down the curb or do different strategic things with our roster we’ll like also. We’ve got less than 24 hours to figure it out and we will.”
